HIGHER EDUCATION
Hannah Williams

"I'd done A-Levels at College for two years and particularly liked IT. I was unsure which university to go on to and one of my tutors suggested that I stay on here to do the Foundation Degree programme. I'm glad I did because I'm familiar with the College and I don't have to travel far to get here. This course also gives you the opportunity to learn lots of different aspects of computing such as websites and databases whereas other university courses I looked at only focused on one main area. I've got the option to do my third at final year at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) after completing two years here."

Study At Degree Level At South Cheshire College

At South Cheshire College we are proud to offer an ever increasing range of Foundation Degrees, alongside a number of other professional courses at Level 4 and above. Studying a Foundation Degree will give you the skills and experience to move straight into employment and the opportunity to complete an Honours Degree at a local university such as MMU, Chester or Liverpool John Moores University.

We also offer a very popular Access to HE course for those who aspire to degree-level study but lack the confidence and formal qualifications needed.

Why study for a HE qualification?

Research shows that on average, those with degree-level qualifications earn substantially more than people with a Level 3 qualification. So if you want to progress further in your career, then this could be the ideal route for you.

Why study at South Cheshire College?

  • Local - You won't need to move away from home to study for a Foundation Degree, which is often the case when attending a university. This can keep your living costs down to a manageable level.
  • Flexible - Whilst our Fd programmes are mostly classed as 2 years full-time study, we try to organise the curriculum in such a way that it's still possible to work or carry out family commitments whilst you are a student. For some courses we offer a part-time study option too, to make it even more flexible for you.
  • Affordable - our tuition fees are lower than university fees - no more than £5000 per year for 2012 full-time courses compared to around £6000-£9000 per year at university. Grants and loans are available too - see the Student Support for more details.
  • Personal - Class sizes are smaller than at university, enabling you to receive more individual attention and guidance from your tutor.
  • Outstanding Facilities - Opened in September 2010, our facilities are amongst the best in the country. HE students benefit from all these, including the new HE Lounge on our new campus.
