Year Two - Level 5 Mandatory Core Units - Work Based Unit 2

Methods of AssessmentExaminations and coursework (including essays, business reports, spreadsheet generated financial models, web-based assignments, case study analyses, seminar presentations and project work).
AttendanceThis course is designated as full-time study. However, lecture time is concentrated on one day and evening per week, enabling students the flexibility to work alongside their study and apply the learning being gained on the programme.
Who Is It Suitable For?
This Foundation degree is suitable for anyone currently in employment in the events, hospitality or travel and tourism industries, who seeks to broaden their skills and knowledge, to improve performance in their current job role or improve promotion prospects. It would also suit anyone seeking a route back into employment or who is looking to progress from further education onto a higher education course.
What Are The Entry Requirements?
Students must be at least 18 years old and have GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C or Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths. In addition, students must have one of the following:
a) A BTEC National (Level 3 Extended) Diploma (Pass) in a relevant subject
b) Two A-Levels at grade D or above in appropriate subjects
c) Access to Higher Education Certificate
d) An equivalent Level 3 qualification (e.g. NVQ, HCIMA, AVCE, Advanced GNVQ)
e) Relevant industry experience of at least five years and a commitment to succeed.
What Can I Do Next?
The events management sector offers a significant number of career opportunities ranging from events management at local authority level to corporate and hospitality events, sports events, conferences, exhibitions and music festivals. Successful completion of the Foundation degree can lead to employment within the event, hospitality and travel and tourism industry, or subject to formal UCAS application, progress to the final year of a BA Event Management degree at MMU or any other higher education provider.
