COST

Tuition fees are free for this course (home students only). However for students aged 19+ there will be a fee (to be confirmed) which may be remitted if you are in receipt of certain benefits. Additional: Day visit program will be £155 per year. Uniform in year 2 at approximately £100. Overseas residential visit during year 1 and 2 (limited funding of £150 is available to those on low incomes which are individually assessed).

Who Is It Suitable For?

Those who wish eventually to develop a career in the travel and tourism industry, or to progress to higher education.

Career opportunities include: Travel agent, Cabin crew, Tourism officer, Conference officer, Cruise entertainment, Tour Co-ordinator and many more in this diverse industry.

What Are The Entry Requirements?

For the Extended Diploma (2 years) you will need a minimum of:

i) 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English Language/Literature (or L2 functional literacy),
ii) or a Level 2 Diploma (Merit) + 2 GCSEs grade A*-C,
iii) or a Level 2 Extended Certificate (Merit) + 3 GCSEs grade A*-C,

plus at least a grade D in GCSE Maths (or L1 functional numeracy pass).

For the Subsidiary Diploma (1 year) you will need a minimum of:

i) 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English Language/Literature (or L2 functional literacy),
ii) or a Level 2 Diploma (Pass) + 1 GCSE grade A*-C,
iii) or a Level 2 Extended Certificate (Pass) + 2 GCSEs grade A*-C,

plus at least a grade E in GCSE Maths.

What Can I Do Next?

The course is equivalent to three A-Levels and is assessed through course work. It provides vocational training for employment throughout the travel and tourism industry. Successful completion of the course can meet the entry requirements for higher education eg Foundation Degree or Full Honours Degree programmes.
