This course is part of an Apprenticeship for which the learner does not pay a tuition fee. Additional: No cost to apprentice Kit is required (approx. £158.00) as is a compulsory College uniform (£50.00 + post and packaging). The Employer may be required to contribute to costs (depending on the age of the Apprentice). Trips and external training may incur further costs.

What's On The Course?

This programme is for anyone who wishes to further their hairdressing training and advance their creative skills. The student should already have a NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing, or equivalent experience and a high level of motivation.

Those students on a Level 3 NVQ will start to take responsibility for their own clients and on completion of this course they will be a stylist or a fully qualified hairdresser.

South Cheshire College will help individuals to gain this qualification which will then enable the student to further progress in their job role. The new facilities at the college provide learning in a modern, well equipped salon environment.

Students who study this programme as an apprentice will be released by the employer one day a week to come into college. Minimum working hours with the employer are 16 hours per week. This course is open to all age groups including adults.

Units of Study

Students on this programme may study the following units:
  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health and Safety
  • Promote additional products and services
  • Provide hairdressing consultation services
  • Creative cutting techniques
  • Develop and enhance creative skills
  • Colour hair using a variety of techniques
  • Style and dress hair to achieve a variety of creative looks
  • Style and dress long hair
  • Colour correction services.
Other optional units will be confirmed with the student's College tutor and their employer.

Who Is It Suitable For?

Students who wish to study through an apprenticeship framework where the employer will release them one day a week to come in to college. Minimum working hours with an employer are usually 30 hours per week. This course is open to all age groups including adults over age 24.

What Are The Entry Requirements?

Successful completion of a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing. All applicants must have hairdressing employment usually for at least 30 hours a week to be eligible for this apprenticeship.

What Can I Do Next?

Employment full or part-time in the hairdressing sector. Students may also wish to add beauty or complementary therapy qualifications to broaden their career prospects.
