What's On The Course?

This BTEC Level 3 Certificate is practical course that allows you to study the concepts of Web Production together with IT Communications and Computer Systems.

Study will take place in our well-equipped IT department and students will combine practical activity and academic study.

Please note: This BTEC Level 3 Certificate has to be studied as part of an A-Level programme, alongside 3 other subjects. Please do not apply for this course by itself. If you want to study a vocational course at Level 3 then please consider the Level 3 Extended Diploma which is a full-time course in its own right.

Who Is It Suitable For?

This course is ideal for students who would like to follow a career in the IT industry with a specific interest in Web & Multimedia.

What Are The Entry Requirements?

For the Advanced Dual Pathway you will require five GCSE passes at grades A*to C, including English Language/Literature, and at least a grade D in Maths. For the Academic Advanced Pathway you will need five GCSEs (2Bs, 3Cs) including English Language/Literature and Maths.

What Other Subjects Can I Study With This Course?

Students can study this Certificate alongside 3 AS-Levels. You will need to carefully consider your choices to ensure your subject combination meets the progression requirements for your chosen degree programme.

What Can I Do Next?

If you study a Level 3 Certificate you will have the option of progressing to a Subsidiary Diploma, equivalent to a full A-Level, in your second year.

The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Web & Multimedia is recognised in both industry and education as an equivalent to one A- Level when successfully completed. It offers an interesting and challenging series of units designed to enable you to specialise in the area of multimedia. This will incorporate Digital Graphics, Animation and Computer Games Design.

You could then continue to study for an IT or computing-related degree at university, progress onto our Enterprise Computing Foundation Degree at South Cheshire College, or use the skills you've gained in employment with a particular specialism in Web & Multimedia.

What If I Need Support?

The College provides a range of learning support for students who would like extra help with their studies. If you need help in deciding what to study or information on travel, finance, childcare, personal or health concerns, contact the Information Centre.
