Thanks to a successful Beacon Innovation Funding application, South Cheshire College is currently working on refining and enhancing its student tracker system to better reflect the needs of remote Work Based Learners. With the momentum being gathered by Train to Gain there is an increasing desire and need to make remote learners feel more a part of South Cheshire College.
Project Goals

- Refine and enhance the student tracker system to reflect an approach which is more attuned to the language, systems and procedures of Work Based Learning.
- Allow Assessors and candidates easier access to key data.
- Use existing data in more meaningful ways for assessment and quality monitoring purposes.
- Allow an Assessment activity/agreed review plan log to be stored and shared between Candidate, Assessor, IV and EV.
- Encourage group interaction through the student tracker system for remote learners, some of who are on their own in their work place in terms of the qualification that they are working towards, thus reducing the feeling of isolation for some candidates.
- Establish a Learner Forum through which candidates are able to support each other and better communicate and discuss the experiences and potential difficulties that they may be facing.
- 'Ask the Assessor' facility - Assessors do not see their candidates as often as a tutor would see their students. A Learner forum should incorporate an 'Ask the Assessor' facility through which learners could post their questions/concerns with their Assessor responding within a 48 hour time frame.
- Remote access at all times for remote learners.

- To do lists showing details of scheduled actions and meetings
- Key Performance Indicators
- Attendance Data including Punctuality measures
- Calendar View allowing tutors to spot absence trends
- Facility for comments and actions to added against each agenda item during a tutorial.
- Mark books allowing tutors to record details of student assessments
- Attendance alerts
- A-Level progress review tool
