A Leading Light of Learning

South Cheshire College is one of an elite band of learning providers to be awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status. Dr Kim Howells MP, Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education presented the prestigious Awards to 20 successful providers at a London awards ceremony earlier this month.

Learning and Skills Beacon status recognises excellent institutions that deliver high quality teaching and learning and are well led and managed to share that good practice with others. The College is the sole provider of post-16 education in Crewe and attracts hundreds of students from across south and east Cheshire.

The College's response to educational and social inclusion is outstanding and it provides a welcoming and supportive environment with a wide range of courses both on the main campus and within the community to meet local needs.

Dr David Collins, Principal South Cheshire College, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status. It is recognition of our good practice and will allow us to share our skills and expertise with others."

Liz Davies, Executive Director of North Cheshire and Warrington Learning and Skills Council, said: "I am delighted that South Cheshire College has been awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status. Their commitment to excellence in the delivery of teaching and learning make them ideal role models for the sector."
