2) Where can I get information about the courses you offer? [back to top]
Details of all courses offered by the college can be found on the website. Click on Courses and then view the area of interest. You will find a search facility and a A-Z index to help you locate a particular course.


3) When should I apply for a full time course? [back to top]
There is no cut off date for course applications, however, if you are particularly interested in one area, it is recommended that you apply as soon as possible. Please apply online via our website (see How to Apply). Alternatively, you can use the application form in the back of our printed prospectus, or request a form from the Information Centre on +44 (0)1270 654654.


4) I am having trouble submitting my online application? [back to top]
Please try again later, keeping the form as brief and simple as possible. Avoid using characters such as brackets and/or hyphens in telephone numbers, etc. If you continue to experience problems, please telephone our Database Administrator on +44 (0)1270 654654 ext 806. Alternatively, contact the Information Centre (+44 (0)1270 654654) and they will send you an application form in the post.


5) I have changed my mind about which course I want to do, but have already submitted an application? [back to top]
It is not necessary to submit another application form. Please contact the Information Centre on +44 (0)1270 654654 who will update your records accordingly.


6) I am an overseas applicant, how do I apply? [back to top]
Full details of all courses offered by the college can be found on our website under Courses. Additional information about Overseas Application can be found under 'How to Apply' and you should read this first before submitting any application to the college.


7) How do I find out about the pick up points for my bus? How do I obtain my bus pass? [back to top]
Travel routes can be found under Student Support on our website. Alternatively contact our Transport Co-Ordinator on +44 (0)1270 654654 ext 338.


8) When can I enrol for September part time courses? [back to top]
You can enrol online for many of our part time courses from (approximately) mid July or at any of our Public Enrolment sessions here at the college. See the 'What's On' section of our website for details of times and dates. Enrolment for post-Christmas and post-Easter courses can be done online from approximately one month prior to the start of the course.


9) I am in receipt of income support / housing benefit / disability living allowance; will I have to pay course fees? [back to top]
Those in receipt of income-based benefits (formerly known as means tested benefits) do not normally have to pay course fees. For further information, please see the Money Matters section, or telephone our Payments Office on +44 (0)1270 654654.


10) Do I have to pay my course fees in full? [back to top]
If your course fees are over £225 you can pay in instalments (home students only). The maximum number of payment instalments possible is three and depends upon the total course cost. For further details on this, please contact our Payments Office on +44 (0)1270 654654. It is not possible at the moment to pay in instalments if you are enrolling online.


11) Can I enrol for courses over the telephone or by post? [back to top]
It is not possible to enrol in this way, however, you can enrol online for many of our part time courses. You can also enrol at designated Advice, Guidance and Enrolment sessions here at the college; these are normally advertised via our website and in the local press.


12) I have enrolled on a part time course, please can you tell me where the classes will be taking place? [back to top]
Please call at the Information Centre (+44 (0)1270 654654) en route to your first class, and someone will direct you to the correct room then.


13) My employer is paying my course fees, can I still enrol online? [back to top]
Yes, but in this case you will need to make the payment and claim it back from your employer. There is a receipt button in the online enrolment section to allow you to print off a receipt to take to your employer. If you cannot pay yourself, you will need to attend an enrolment event and bring your employers' letter with you.


14) I want to apply for more than one course, can I do this? [back to top]
Yes, please list all the courses you would like an interview for on your application form.


15) Where can I get a Bus Pass Application Form from? [back to top]
You get can one from the Counselling & Welfare Office on Student Street.


16) When and where from do I collect my Bus Pass? [back to top]
Bus Passes are collected each term from the Counselling & Welfare Office. Payment can be made by cash, cheque (made payable to South Cheshire College) or debit/credit card.

17) How do I find out which courses are right for me at college? [back to top]
Connexions in your school will be able to advise you and can help you chose the subjects and courses most suited to your particular career choices. The college's own careers staff can also help and are available on both the Open and Interview evenings. www.learndirect.co.uk also has useful careers information.

18) How often do I need to attend college? [back to top]
Typically 3.5 - 5 days per week depending on your chosen course.

19) I have done better / worse in my exams than I expected; can I change the level of the course that I have been offered a place on? [back to top]
Yes, there is normally no problem with this; just come along at the time given in your enrolment letter and we will advise you on the right level of course to match your results.

20) I needed a particular grade to enrol on my course / subject but I haven't achieved it, will I still be able to do my course? [back to top]
You will still have a place at college and it might still be possible for you to enrol on your chosen course; come along to the time given in your enrolment letter and we will help you then.

21) I have been offered a place on a course that I am no longer interested in; can I change to another course? [back to top]
Yes. It may be possible to change to another course depending on your GCSE results. Please contact the Information Centre on +44 (0)1270 654654 and we will help you.

22) I have just received my GCSE results, but have not yet applied to college, is it too late? [back to top]
No. Please complete an application form as soon as possible or apply online and we will contact you to come into college for an interview.

23) I have been sent an appointment to enrol on a full time course and I am on holiday during enrolment week, what should I do? [back to top]
Please contact the Information Centre on +44 (0)1270 654654 as soon as possible and we will arrange another date for you.

24) What should I do if I want to withdraw my application for a full time course? [back to top]
Please contact the Information Centre on +44 (0)1270 654654 and let us know what you will be doing instead.
